BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., Feb 25 (Reuters) - Hollywood producers celebrated Tom Cruise's career and handed their top film honor to multiverse adventure "Everything Everywhere All at Once" on Saturday at one of the key awards ceremonies ahead of next month's Oscars. The Producers Guild of America honored Cruise with a lifetime achievement award, and several speakers thanked the actor for boosting the pandemic-hobbled movie business with last summer's blockbuster "Top Gun: Maverick." "Tom Cruise showed all of us that moviegoing was back," Sherry Lansing, the former CEO of Paramount Pictures, said in her introduction. The 60-year-old Cruise rose to fame as the star of "Risky Business," "Cocktail," "A Few Good Men" and other films. As he accepted his award, Cruise applauded the work of the TV and film producers in the audience.

A24 announced an auction of dozens of props and costumes from "Everything Everywhere All at Once." There are over 40 items for sale, including the famous "hot dog finger" gloves and several costumes. Some of the biggest props from "Everything Everywhere All at Once" will soon be going once, going twice, sold. A24 is auctioning off memorabilia from one of the year's top Oscar-nominated films over the next week and a half, with proceeds going to a trio of charities selected by the film's directors, Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert. Among the items available for auction are over a dozen costumes worn in the film, as well as props including the now-iconic "hot dog hands," "Raccacoonie" and the fanny pack worn by best supporting actor nominee Ke Huy Quan's Waymond.

Ke Huy Quan has won the Golden Globe for best supporting actor in a motion picture. The “Everything Everywhere All At Once” actor took home the award Tuesday for his portrayal of doting husband and laundromat owner Waymond Wang. “I was raised to never forget where I came from and always remember who gave me my first opportunity,” he said. The role is also significant for the actor personally, as it marks his return to acting after more than two decades working behind the camera. It wasn’t until the 2018 rom-com “Crazy Rich Asians,” which featured an all-Asian cast, that Quan began to reconsider his options, he said in the Roundtable.

The films will compete for best movie cast with "Women Talking," "Babylon" and "Everything Everywhere All at Once." "The Fabelmans," the Golden Globe winner for best movie drama, earned a SAG nomination for lead actor Paul Dano. Other movie actors nominated included Austin Butler for "Elvis," Cate Blanchett for "Tar" and Adam Sandler for "Hustle." In television categories, "Better Call Saul," "The Crown," "Ozark," "Severance" and "The White Lotus" were nominated for best drama cast. The TV comedy cast contenders are "Abbott Elementary," "Barry," "The Bear," "Hacks" and "Only Murders in the Building."

Nominated 14 times by the Globes for best director, Spielberg also won the honor for the third time. Carmichael kicked off the 80th Golden Globes from the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California, with little of the fanfare that usually opens such ceremonies.

Bassett was honored for playing Queen Ramonda in "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever," a sequel that was rewritten after the death of star Chadwick Boseman. Ke Huy Quan was named best supporting actor in a drama film for his role of Waymond Wang in "Everything Everywhere All at Once." Among those voters, nearly 52% are racially and ethnically diverse, including 10% who are Black, according to the HFPA.
